Regulatory status

Read this section before ordering. Cagrilintide is an investigational compound. It holds no marketing authorisation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in the United Kingdom, from the Food and Drug Administration in the United States, or from the European Medicines Agency.

A regulatory application covering a fixed dose combination containing cagrilintide was submitted to the FDA in December 2025, and a review decision has been anticipated during 2026. Approval of a combination product elsewhere would not make this material a licensed medicine in the United Kingdom, and it would not change the basis on which this listing is supplied. The status of this compound is under periodic review and this page will be updated if it changes.

Under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 an investigational compound of this kind may not lawfully be supplied for use in humans outside a clinical trial that has been authorised by the MHRA and given a favourable opinion by a research ethics committee.

This listing is an analytical reference standard for laboratory research and nothing else. NH Peptides does not supply it for use in humans or animals, does not supply it to individuals for personal use, and provides no information on this page relating to any such use.

What is cagrilintide?

Cagrilintide is a synthetic long acting analogue of amylin, a peptide hormone produced by the pancreatic beta cells. In the published pharmacology literature it is characterised as an agonist at the amylin and calcitonin receptor family. It carries the development code AM833 and originates from Novo Nordisk.

The designation is a development code rather than an international non-proprietary name, which is normal for a compound that has not completed regulatory review.

Where the evidence stands

The compound has been studied in clinical development, both alone and as part of a fixed dose combination. Trial data are the property of the sponsor and are published in the peer reviewed literature and on trial registries. This page does not summarise those results, discuss any indication under investigation, or restate any endpoint, because doing so would describe a use that this material is not supplied for.

Investigators should work from the primary literature and the trial registry record. A large volume of secondary commentary about this compound is in circulation and much of it is unreliable.

Specification figures for cagrilintide

The sequence, molecular formula and molecular weight for the lot supplied are stated on its certificate of analysis. Published figures for research compounds are not always consistent between sources, so this page defers to the certificate rather than restating a value that may not match the material in the vial.

Working with material of this class

This is a modified peptide carrying a lipid side chain, and its analytical profile is correspondingly more complex than the short unmodified sequences in the catalogue. Related substance peaks are more numerous and a purity figure alone tells you less about a lot than it does for a tripeptide. Read the chromatogram on the certificate rather than the headline figure.

Acylated peptides also behave differently in solution from unmodified ones. They are more prone to aggregation and to surface adsorption, which matters when preparing dilute working solutions.

Analysis and certification

Each lot of cagrilintide is analysed by an independent laboratory using RP-HPLC with LC-MS identity confirmation before it is released for sale. The certificate of analysis is published against the lot number rather than the product page, so the document you read is the document for the vial you receive.

Research use only

NH Peptides supplies cagrilintide as an analytical reference standard for laboratory research. It is not supplied for any use in humans or animals, and no information on this page describes or implies any such use. Sale is restricted to qualified researchers and to purchasers acting on behalf of a research institution, laboratory or business.

How cagrilintide is tested

Two separate analyses are carried out on every lot before it is released, and both appear on the certificate. Identity is confirmed by LC-MS against the expected mass for the sequence. Purity is determined by RP-HPLC peak area.

For an acylated peptide the related substance profile carries more information than the purity figure alone, since the common process related impurities differ from those seen with unmodified sequences. The certificate reports the chromatogram, and that is the part worth reading.

Purity specification for cagrilintide

Lots are released against a ≥99% purity specification, determined by RP-HPLC peak area. The figure for the lot you receive is stated on its certificate of analysis and may differ from the specification.

A specification is a release threshold, not a description of every lot. Where a measured figure and the specification differ, the certificate is the record that applies to your material. Analytical figures relate to the lot they are published against and carry no implication of suitability for any purpose beyond laboratory research.

Research grade material is not manufactured under the controls that apply to a licensed medicinal product. A purity figure on a certificate of analysis is not a statement about fitness for any purpose other than laboratory research.

Storing cagrilintide

Lyophilised material is shipped under cold chain and should be returned to freezer storage on arrival. Store the sealed vial dry at −20°C or below, protected from light and moisture.

Allow the vial to reach room temperature before breaking the seal, so that moisture does not condense onto the cake.

Preparing stock solutions

Prepare stock solutions in sterile water or an appropriate aqueous buffer for analytical work, at a concentration suited to your assay. Confirm solubility against the certificate of analysis before preparing stocks. Introduce solvent slowly against the vial wall rather than directly onto the cake, and allow the material to dissolve without agitation. Do not vortex.

Acylated peptides are more prone to aggregation and to surface adsorption than unmodified sequences. Use low binding consumables, avoid unnecessary transfers, and check that the concentration you assume is the concentration you have if the assay is sensitive to it.

Peptide solutions are less stable than lyophilised powder. Prepare close to the point of use, hold at 2–8°C for short periods only, and avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.

Handling and disposal

Assess the hazards of this material before handling and use appropriate controls and protective equipment. It has not been characterised toxicologically for the purposes of this supply and should be treated as potentially hazardous.

Record the lot number from the vial label in your own inventory alongside the certificate of analysis, storage temperature and disposal route. Institutions holding investigational compounds should record them in the inventory that satisfies their own chemical hygiene plan, and should retain shipping documentation in line with their record keeping policy.

Dispose of unused material, vials and packaging lawfully and in line with your institution’s waste procedures. Do not dispose to drain.

Is cagrilintide an approved medicine?

No. It holds no marketing authorisation from the MHRA, the FDA or the EMA. A regulatory application covering a fixed dose combination containing cagrilintide was filed with the FDA in December 2025, but a filing is not an approval, and approval of a combination product elsewhere would not make this material a licensed medicine in the United Kingdom.

Can I buy this for personal use?

No. Sale is restricted to persons aged 18 or over who are qualified researchers, or who purchase on behalf of a research institution, laboratory or business. This website is not an offer to supply to the general public, and this material is not supplied for use in humans or animals under any circumstances.

Why does this page not describe what the compound is being studied for?

Because describing an indication would describe a use that this material is not supplied for. This listing is an analytical reference standard. Investigators working on the pharmacology should go to the primary literature and the clinical trial registry record, which are the appropriate sources.

Is this the same as the material used in clinical trials?

No. Research grade material is not manufactured under the controls that apply to an investigational medicinal product supplied to a trial, and no comparison should be drawn between the two. The certificate of analysis describes the lot supplied and nothing beyond it.

Does the lipid side chain affect handling?

Yes. Acylated peptides are more prone to aggregation and to adsorption onto plastic surfaces than unmodified sequences, and their impurity profile differs. Use low binding consumables for dilute working solutions and read the chromatogram rather than the headline purity figure.

What purity specification does this material meet?

Lots are released against a ≥99% specification, determined by RP-HPLC peak area. The figure for the lot you receive is stated on its certificate of analysis.

How do I match my vial to its certificate?

By lot number. The vial label carries the compound, the labelled quantity and the lot number, and the certificate is published against that same lot number.

How is it shipped?

In temperature stable, plainly labelled packaging on a tracked UK service. Compound names do not appear on the outer packaging.

Are prices shown with VAT?

Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Any VAT that applies is calculated and displayed at checkout, together with the delivery charge, before you confirm payment. The total shown at checkout is the total you pay.
